Welcome to Larned, Kansas

Larned is the county seat for Pawnee County. Established in 1873, Larned was named after the near-by Fort Larned, named for Col. Benjamin F. Larned, and founded by Henry Booth. Many of the streets in town still consist of hand-laid brick, and interesting houses built in the early 1900's.

Larned is home to over 100 different types of businesses and many churches. The town has numerous celebrations, such as a living history weekend, Santa Fe Trail Days, and the Pawnee County Fair. During the summer, the Fort also has many living history days in which volunteers reenact life on the Fort.

Community Garden

E-mail Print PDF

Green Thumb anyone?  Take part in Larned’s first Pride Project a COMMUNITY GARDEN !  If you enjoy gardening but don’t have the space or don’t like to garden alone this is for you!  In addition to bringing members of the community together, many communities are able to harvest enough extra produce to supply local food banks with fresh vegetables throughout the growing season.  If you would like more information contact Donna at the Extension office at 285-6901 or Janet at the Chamber at 285-6916 this week!

Who doesn't enjoy fresh vegetables during the summer and by working together we can all enjoy the rewards of a large garden!
