Sibley’s Camp is located at 2nd and State Streets. It is the local campsite of the U.S. government surveying team lead by George Sibley in 1925. He describes the site in his journal as “Cliffs of Soft Rock”.
Across the street to the south is the replica of the original sutler’s mess hall at Fort Larned constructed in 1863. In 1872 the building was moved to the newly established Larned town site where it served as the City’s first post office, hotel, restaurant, church, school, courthouse, saloon, brothel and dance hall. The building has been reconstructed to replicate the first building in Larned.
