REPORTS TO Larned Area Chamber of Commerce & Pawnee County Economic Development Commission Board of Directors
NATURE OF WORK The Executive Director will manage the organizations “like a business” and in a way that attracts and retains the engagement of key leaders. Oversees and manages the LACC and PCEDC under the terms of their By-Laws, Mission, Management Agreement, Annual Goals and Annual Budget. The Executive Director shall prepare the goals and objectives annually as directed by both boards and devotes the work effort required to meet the Annual Budget and Goals of both organizations. The Executive Director manages the day-to-day business of the LACC and PCEDC as directed by the respective Boards of Directors.
STRATEGIC PLANNING The Executive Director is the driving force in execution of the Boards’ strategies – setting clear milestones and being an advocate for fresh ideas and creative solutions. The Executive Director will work with the Boards and others in the community to anticipate emerging and long-range opportunities and challenges.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT The Executive Director will work to enhance the culture of entrepreneurship--creating an environment that embraces new and non-traditional businesses. The Executive Director will work closely with business, labor, City and County officials, and other community public and/or private organizations to secure necessary resources and enhance retention, expansion and attraction of jobs and investment in the community and region. He/she will work to aggressively market to existing and potential industries for business development in the Larned and Pawnee County area.
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Oversees activities related to maintaining effective membership relations in order to sustain and expand the membership base. Grow program and event income to support quality initiatives and activities that provide value to members. Maintain communication with members through on-site visits, publications, and emails.
STAFF & VOLUNTEERS The Executive Director is responsible for the employment of personnel and volunteers, the assignment of their duties, the supervision of their work, and will conduct annual performance evaluations of their duties.
LIAISON ROLE The Executive Director is the public spokesperson and chief advocate for the area’s business sector and overall economy. He/she is responsible for on-going interactions and serving as a liaison with a wide constituency (includes: Board of Directors, Chamber members, government officials, community and regional networks).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Oversees the administering of economic development projects, which includes but is not limited to, the Micro Revolving Loan Fund, Neighborhood Revitalization Plan, and E-Community Loan.
Responsible for the successful completion of committee projects and
Chamber events as it relates to time, budget, and quality. Keeps Boards updated on committee progress. Motivates and provides leadership in working with task forces and committees.
Monitors and assists in maintaining the appearance, maintenance and use of the office and Jordaan Room.
Manages the public relations of both the LACC and PCEDC—weekly newsletter, website (WordPress), social media (Facebook & Twitter), advertisements, and event flyers.
Will make recommendations concerning the need of office equipment. Complies with the facility agreements drawn by the Boards and the City of Larned.
Responsible, with the assistance of the two organization’s treasurers, for the preparation of annual budgets as directed by both Boards, and ensure preparation of financial statements.
Accountable for the review of the budget and financial reports monthly at board meetings. Provide for an annual audit as directed by the Boards.
Maintains a high degree of professional, ethical and moral standards at all times.

A person whose personal style will be admired and respected by the communities he/she serves.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
B.A. Degree and/or experience in community development, business promotional development, economic development (including administrative responsibility).
Experience in Group Motivation and Organization.
Strong written, oral communication and computer skills.
COMPENSATION Dependent on qualifications and experiences.
